Before UND: Selected in the first round, 30th overall, by the New York Islanders in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft ... Participated in 2010 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp in August ... Averaged nearly three points per game last season at Warroad (Minn.) High School, amassing 39 goals and 34 assists in 25 games ... Named a finalist for Minnesota's Mr. Hockey Award, given annually to the top senior player in the state ... Registered 45 goals and 31 assists in 31 games as a junior in 2008-09.

Personal: Majoring in investments ... Son of Roc and Jeri Nelson ... Uncle, Dave Christian, played at UND (1977-79) and won Olympic gold with the United States' famed "Miracle on Ice" team in 1980 before going on to play in more than 1,000 career NHL games with Winnipeg, Washington, Boston, St. Louis and Chicago ... Great uncle, Gordon "Ginny" Christian also played at UND (1947-50) and won Olympic silver with the United States in 1956.
